Microsoft Edge will allow text rewriting with Bing AI

The ability to rewrite text in different ways using Bing AI is a feature that appeared on the SwiftKey keyboard app for iOS and Android that Microsoft implemented a few months ago. When it comes to Microsoft Edge, it will allow users to select a portion of text in an input field and rewrite it with the keyboard shortcut Alt + I. Edge will display a pop-up with AI-generated text and a few bits. button to replace the selected text, adjust the result, or try again with a refreshed variation.

This information was given by user @Leopeva64 on social network X based on information coming from the recent Microsoft Edge Canary software update. Like SwiftKey on Android and iOS, the rewrite feature in the Microsoft Edge browser allows users to tweak a number of options to make the results match their personal needs and preferences.

Users can choose 4 tones: professional, casual, enthusiastic and formal; change the format (paragraphs, emails, blog posts and ideas) and choose the length (short, medium and long). Then, click the Rewrite button to apply the settings and regenerate the response from Bing AI.

Text rewriting with Bing AI is currently rolling out to some insiders in the Microsoft Edge Canary channel. This is an A/B rollout, which means not everyone will be able to access the new feature. For Microsoft Edge Dev users, they have a similar feature: right-click the highlighted text and select the “Ask Bing AI” option. That will open the Bing sidebar with buttons to explain, modify, or expand the selection.

Earlier, Microsoft also started rolling out Dark mode support for Bing and Bing Chat on desktop. In addition, the company also allows users to access Bing Chat from other browsers, such as Google Chrome and Safari.
